Sports is known to be an effective way to help children to learn self-discipline and to help those otherwise disinterested in academic learning to be more successful in the classroom. Within the network, sports is used as a way to help children engage with each other and to learn a variety of life skills. Many members provide sporting opportunities for children, but few opportunities exist in the city for children to meet and compete. Every year the network hosts a 3 day sports tournament where children from all over the city participate. In addition, a monthly competitive league allows schools and learning centres to meet and compete.
